Density of Water

Method:
1. Measure mass of empty measuring cylinder using a balance.
2. Measure mass of liquid and measuring cylinder.
3. Subtract 1 from 2 to calculate the mass of the liquid.
4. Measure volume of liquid by using the measuring cylinder (Note: measure to the bottom of the meniscus)
5. Calculate density (p = m/V)
Results:
1. Mcylinder
= 58.5g
2.Mcylinder+liquid
= 83.2g
3.Mliquid
= Mcylinder+liquid-Mcylinder = 83.2 - 58.5 = 24.8g
4.V=25ml = 25cm3
5.p=m/V = 24.8/25 = 0.992 = 1
(m= mass)
